What is a peptide? Peptides occur naturally in the body. Like proteins, peptides are composed of amino acids. When a chain of amino acids is over 50 acids long, it is usually called a protein, when contain less than 50 amino acids in the chain it is a peptide. So, a peptide is a portion, or a building block, of a protein.

What is a Peptide used for in skin care? The peptides used in skin care are ones that communicate with and direct the skin cells to behave in a certain way, such as producing more collagen or thicken the skin.

The peptides used in skin care are synthetic and they are able to enter the cells of the skin and remain intact. Because if this the future potential for the development of new peptide products is very promising. There are many different peptides and they all do different things.

We are using 5 different peptides to build your collagen and plump up lines and wrinkles.

Collagen Loss vs Age - Collagen starts to drain at the age of 20 (women), dropped year by year and entering the peak period of the loss at age of 25, skin cell regeneration ability becames poor and has a shorter life cycle. At age 40, the collagen level is half as much as compared to 18 years old.

How many treatments do I need to see results? We recommend one treatment a week for six weeks. After the initial course of treatments you will be evaluated and further treatments or a maintenance schedule will be recommended.

AcneLift™ - Blue Light Therapy
One approach to treating acne is to target the bacteria that product the inflammation associated with acne known as Propionobacterium Acnes, or P acnes. CHEMICAL PEELS

This is not necessarily true now that buffered glycolic acid products are on the market. Buffering takes the acid and increases the pH without changing the percent concentration. These consist of AHA’s, amino acids and enzymes. Your MediEsthetic Specialist will choose the peel that is best for your skin. Level I peels are safe for any skin type. Included with the Level I peel will be a lightening treatment with Volcanic Ash or a Vitamin C Treatment with Volcanic Ash or an acne spot treatment depending on the condition of your skin.

Level II Peels
$150
Level II peels are not for everyone. They are deeper peels that reach the lower levels of the skin. There are cautions and specific home care protocols that are required before performing Level II peels. Contact your MediEsthetic Specialist for more information.
