Resolutions to Improve Your Skin in 2021

December 31 2020
If improving your skin is at the top of your list of resolutions for 2021, we have some tips to help reach your goal. If you haven’t yet resolved to take better care of your skin in the coming year, get out your list and add it on. The small, simple changes that we list here will make a huge impact on the health and appearance of your skin without an overwhelming amount of effort on your part.

Cleanse Daily

No, wiping your face with a wet washcloth and climbing into bed doesn’t count. There are times that taking the time to really clean your face before bed seems just too much effort. Set yourself up for success by organizing your skincare products within easy access so you won’t be tempted to skip them. Cleaning your skin removes the makeup, impurities, and free radicals that damage your skin and lead to breakouts and premature aging. Although they aren’t your best option, you may want to place some good quality facial cleansing wipes on your nightstand for those nights when you’re completely exhausted or you just forget.

Moisturize Daily

Cleansing your skin and moisturizing are the foundations of any good skincare routine. If you skip either, it’s a recipe for disaster. Everyone, even those with oily skin, needs moisturizer every day. The key is finding the right one for your skin type. Your esthetician can recommend products that will work well for you. Then it’s up to you to apply them. Again, keeping your moisturizer where you can access it easily will help ensure success. Consider keeping an extra container of moisturizer on your nightstand alongside your cleansing wipes.

Protect Your Skin From Sun Damage

Be honest. Do you wear sunscreen every day? If you do, do you reapply it throughout the day as directed? If you don’t use it properly, it can’t do its job, and skin cancer is now the most common type of cancer in the U.S. Estimates say one in five people will develop some form of skin cancer in their lifetime. Not only this, but overexposure to the sun also leads to premature aging, which nobody wants. So resolve to find a good sunscreen and apply as directed every single day.

See Your Esthetician Regularly

Facials are another important and often neglected part of skincare. Seeing your esthetician regularly will keep your complexion clear and healthy, reduce the signs of aging, and allow them to help you tweak your routine as needed to correct any issues you might have.
