Aging is something that we all have to face, but it’s not something that you just have to accept. When it comes to aging skin you don’t have to live with wrinkles and a sagging jawline. There is a nonsurgical facial rejuvenation procedure available that is quick, has little downtime, and provides instantly visible results- PDO Thread Lifting.
What Is A PDO Thread Lift?
A PDO is a nonsurgical procedure that passes dissolvable threads underneath the skin. These threads provide immediate lift and as these threads are absorbed by the body they trigger the body’s natural healing response to boost the production of collagen which firms the skin over time. A thread lift gives you subtle results that look natural and more youthful. Thread lifts are particularly effective around the jawline and lower face where sagging is most common. Because the procedure is so quick with little downtime as compared to a surgical facelift, it’s been referred to as the “lunchtime facelift”.
Some Of The Benefits Of Thread Lifting
Who Is A Good Candidate For A PDO Thread Lift?
Those with mild skin laxity are the best candidates for this procedure. Those with significant sagging and jowling will not see as good of results as someone with less significant signs of aging. For more advanced issues thread lifting may be paired with other treatments such as injectables to improve the results. You’ll need a consultation to determine if thread lifting is the best choice for you.
What Can I Expect During The Procedure?
The entire procedure typically takes less than an hour to perform. First, the locations where the thread will go will be marked. You will be given a local anesthetic to keep you comfortable during the procedure. Once the areas to be treated are numb a long thin needle or cannula with the thread attached will be inserted and passed through under the surface of your skin. The thread is then pulled taut to create the tension that will lift the sagging tissues. This process will be repeated until all the threads have been placed. The number of threads used can be just a few up to 20 threads. After the last thread has been placed you will be able to drive yourself home.
What Should I Expect After The Thread Lift?
Recovery from a thread lift is generally very easy. Since it’s a non-surgical procedure you can return to work and your usual activities soon after the procedure is completed. You should avoid rubbing or massaging your skin as well as making exaggerated facial movements. You could see some mild bruising and swelling during the first week. Sleeping partially upright for a few days will help reduce any swelling. You might notice some areas of your skin looking bunchy or dimpled. This is normal and should resolve on its own within a week. You shouldn’t be able to see or feel the threads easily, but you could notice a feeling of resistance while moving your face. This will be less noticeable as the threads start to dissolve.
When Will I See The Results?
Immediately after the procedure, your skin will look firmer and tauter. Some of this is from the tension of the threads and some are the initial swelling. In about a month you’ll start to see the effect of the increased collagen and maximum results should be reached in about 3 months.
How Long Does PDO Thread Lifting Last?
The threads that are inserted will dissolve gradually over about 6-9 months. Most of the collagen-boosting effects of the treatment will be seen during this time, though you could continue to see improvement for up to a year, depending on what type of threads were used.
