Simple Resolutions for Healthier, Younger-Looking Skin

Simple Resolutions for Healthier, Younger-Looking Skin

December 15 2021
It’s easy to list a whole bunch of things you want as resolutions for the New Year – it’s another thing to stick with them and make it happen! Improving our skincare is rarely on anyone’s list, but you’ll see that many of those things that do make your top 10 indirectly aid in keeping your skin healthy and younger-looking! Think small, simple changes to be successful in 2022!

Diet & exercise. These two things typically top the charts for New Year resolutions. However, they frequently fail because we try to change too much. Regular cardiovascular exercise (even simple walks) keeps our blood circulating, which boosts elastin protein and collagen for more elasticity and tighter skin.

You don’t have to engage in a ‘miracle diet’ or cut out everything you love for your skin to benefit from healthier eating. A poor diet can cause dull, sullen skin and acne breakouts. Try to taper off the junk food and opt for healthier snacks and well-balanced meals. Even just simple changes to your diet can provide your body with all the nutrients it needs to healthy, younger-looking skin.

Drink more water. Staying hydrated seems simple enough – but drinking enough water during our busy day can be challenging. Not only is staying hydrated good for your health but keeping yourself amply hydrated keeps your skin from becoming dry, cracked, and undernourished.

Cleanse your face before bed. This is one of those simple things you can do that can make a big impact on the health of your skin! Resolve to cleanse and moisturize before bedtime so that your face is well-hydrated and will have time to renew while you’re sleeping. Just these 5-minute tasks have huge future benefits.

Better sleep. A lot of people suffer from poor sleep habits but it’s a valid concern. Trying to correct your sleep schedule to get as much sleep as possible will keep those dark circles from invading your under-eye area and will reduce your anxiety and stress, which are two primary causes of acne and weight gain.

Clearing out your old makeup and skincare products. Set aside just an hour to go through your medicine cabinet and makeup bag to get rid of those old, dried-up products and any old makeup. Ensuring that both your makeup and skincare products are up to date will help keep your skin from breakouts with old, expired products.

Make it to the spa. We understand that everyone is busy – but everyone needs to make time for a day of rejuvenation at the spa! At Helen’s Haven Integrative Med Spa, we will assess your skin concerns and help you to help nourish your skin, correct any skin issues, and much more.

Reevaluate your skincare needs. Everyone’s skin changes over time, so the beginning of the year is a good time to update your skincare regimen and address how your skin has changed. You may need to target different skin issues by changing your skincare products. Our expert estheticians can help and our full skincare line of SkinTech products can help you with your specific skin type.

Try and try again. The most important thing to have great skin care is to try in the first place. Every little bit of effort helps, and starting a routine, whether it be washing your face each night, eating healthier, or being more active – it all starts with trying. And when you fail? Try again! It will pay off in the long run.
