Linda has been a licensed massage therapist since 1998 and has been employed at Helen's Haven since 2013. She has a diverse background of massage experience and has been influenced by her many instructors. Her massage school had an amazing instructor in Russian sports massage which has been one of her favorite techniques. Interest in postural techniques led her to very light touch techniques such as Spinal Touch, for which she is an instructor. Her Spinal Touch instructor manufactured herbal supplements which influenced her decision to receive a master’s degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. A midwife urged her to train in craniosacral so she could treat her clients. As a result, she worked briefly as a doula and received tutoring in cranial sacral therapy. Seeing the powerful results of light touch therapies she certified in Craniosacral, Spinal Touch, and Bowen. Healing her own food intolerances led her to train in kinesiology. She also trained in natural weight loss. As an acupuncturist, she would like to offer natural therapies that address personal health problems, women’s issues, weight loss, allergies, and pain management.
Bowen style therapy consists of gentle rolling movements across the muscle that trigger a healing response from within the body rather than physically altering the body. No oils or lotion are used and it can be performed through light clothing. The treatment may include gentle stretches. It is especially helpful for pregnancy, fibromyalgia, neck, back, knee, elbows, shoulder problems, respiratory complaints, asthma, tmj, digestive complaints, infertility and more.
Spinal Touch is a style of posture alignment treatment. It restores the body’s center of balance by a unique muscle-relaxation technique. A plumb line analysis is used before and after the treatment. Improved posture is it’s aim which results in reduced pain and improved healing. Many clients have said it is more relaxing than a regular massage. Spinal Touch is mostly recommended to reduce the strain on neck and shoulders that is caused by forward head posture and is also the one of the best recommended treatments to reduce back pain.
Oriental Medicine is a system of healing that incorporates many therapies, including acupuncture and herbs. Therefore, an acupuncture treatment may consist of a single or variety of techniques such as, acupuncture needles, cupping, or an e-stim, depending on your needs. Each treatment is customized and unique for the individual,
