Polydioxanone (PDO) threads are a special medical grade thread that is thinner than hair, made of protein. Research has confirmed that PDO relaxes tendons and muscles, while improving the blood flow to the area stimulating neocollagenesis (the production of new collagen in the skin). The threads will dissolve over a few months leaving behind new collagen and a visible tightening and lifting effect. There are two types of threads: smooth and barbed. Smooth increases volume and barbed threads have more a lifting effect.
